Experience

I received my doctoral degree in Chemistry from Georgetown University and am currently working as a Preceptor (Instructor) in University of Delaware's Interdisciplinary Science Learning Laboratories. In this position, I work on a team of biologists and chemists to teach an integrated introductory biology and chemistry course as well as aid in curriculum development for our student-centered program. At Georgetown University, I was a General Chemistry Teaching Assistant, in which I have taught a general non-Chemistry majors section and the Chemistry majors section. In the General Chemistry for Majors Laboratory course, we utilized inquiry-based experiments. I was awarded Chemistry Department's "Best General Chemistry Teaching Assistant" for the 2015-2016 and 2013-2014 academic years and received a nomination for the Georgetown University Graduate School TA Award (2016). My graduate research focused on the synthesis of metal chalcogenide nanomaterials. I have presented my work at the ACS Central Regional Meeting in Pittsburgh (Fall 2014), the ACS National Meeting in Boston (Summer 2015), the ACS National Meeting in San Diego (Spring 2016), the Colloidal Semiconductor Nanocrystals Gordon Research Conference (2016), and the ACS Mid-Atlantic Regional Meeting in Hershey, PA (2017). I worked as a Chemistry Tutor at Monmouth University, and have tutored privately in the DC area from 2012-2017. At Monmouth, I completed several Chemistry classes, including General Chemistry, Organic Chemistry, Physics, Quantitative Analysis, Physical Chemistry, Inorganic Chemistry and Biochemistry. In high school, I passed the AP exams for Chemistry, Calculus AB, Calculus BC, Psychology, Physics, English Language and English Literature.

Hobbies

I am an incredibly driven individual and hope to further establish my career as a science educator. Outside of teaching and my research, I served as the Graduate Student Organization of Chemistry President (2015-2016). I also organized a committee of six students who hosted a symposium at the Spring 2017 ACS National Meeting in San Francisco titled "Water Sustainability: Chemists in Pursuit of Clean Water". During my undergraduate career, I was extremely involved in Pep Band, Chemistry Club, and Alpha Xi Delta. I served as Treasurer of the Pep Band for three years, President for the Chemistry Club for two years, and President of the Iota Nu Chapter of Alpha Xi Delta for one term. I continue to stay involved as an alumnae of Alpha Xi Delta, in which I hold or have held various volunteer positions, including Autism Speaks Philanthropy Chair for the Northern Virginia Alumnae Association (2013-2017), Philanthropy Advisor for the Beta Eta chapter at the University of Maryland (2014-2017), and National Academic Director (2016-present).
